Bridal Trends for 2009

Bridal style can be classic and steeped in tradition. Seasonal wedding trends often add a further twist to take a bridal look in a new direction. Hot off the British Bridal Exhibition catwalks, much of the bridal looks for 2009 have continued from 2008’s love of lace and florals and mixing different fabrics for a more OTT look. Making the transition from last years catwalks and high street fashion to the wedding scene are short dresses with bubble skirts and one shoulder satin gowns. These looks will be huge for those bold individuals wanting something bang on trend and a little different. Layers are big news for 2009, building on the prom style look of the last few seasons but now adding different fabrics, textures and petticoats. Layering of jewellery will match this theme –think strands of pearl necklaces or intertwined pearl bracelets. Intricate lace and crochet keep romance alive, with beautiful embroidered bodices appearing in many of the big collections. Delicate crystal and pearl accessories work perfectly with these styles. Strapless gowns and fish tail skirts remain key bridal looks. Back details and bows are the new embellishments. If you opt for such detailing on the back of your dress be sure to consider the entire back view and add bridal hair accessories to complete your look. As always the key to finding your bridal look is to take the time to think about the overall look you want to achieve and use your wedding dress to inform your bridal accessory decisions.
